It's already enough that 48 of 50 US states do not allow homosexuals to marry and be merry and live and enjoy a nonviolent joyful life. More than half the USA does NOT even have such a thing as a "Civil Union" partnerships! In Arkansas it's even worse. It's no to gay marriage, no to civil unions, AND NO to unmarried couples adopting children. And Arkansas has the state nickname "The Land of Opportunity". HOW DISGUSTING. How dare it use that name and then "OUTRIGHT DENY EQUAL OPPORTUNITY" to a distinct group of individuals who make up a minority. And especially for those who remember Matthew Shepard, a gay nonviolent boy who was hanged to a tree and left to die in Wyoming, Dick Cheney's home state, because of his sexual orientation. This is outright discrimination. And so Canada has addressed gay rights already, Massachusetts is a happy spot where everyone can live and be merry, Connecticut (The Constitution State) came to the same conclusion. It's time for the rest of America to stand up on its image of Freedom and Democracy and make it so a gay employee doesn't get fired for being homosexual. Some of the good job organizations have passed special bylaws for sex orientation since the rest of America is too intolerant. Cross-dressers and transvestites would be protected under same-sex marriage. The law just has to allow marriage to be defined as love between 1 human being and another human being. This is about freedom. Why does the Government concern itself over whether you have an X or a Y chromosome? That's the problem right there. And the violence against women act should applicable to men also who are sexually abused. X or Y should NOT matter. The issue with adoption - whether it's a right or not is not the point, the point is it's granted to one party (straight lovers) and NOT another equal party (homosexual lovers), and this is discriminatory policy. Randall E, that's like asking "Why should it be okay for African Americans to be pastors and not okay for me to not pay my electric bill?" Denying gay marriage is discriminating against a GROUP of people who share a commonality. it's not the same as something you personally feel like doing open4one: to address your issue. Americans value "substance over form." That's how the courts work and that's how accountanting principles work. A privilege takes the substance of a right even though in "form" it's a privilage, since those 'qualified' for marital license is HARDLY a small segment of the US population, that gays are asking to be included in, in substance it's DELIBERATE discrimination....
